The Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) provides School Health Support Services on a priority-needs basis. LHIN professionals assess and prioritize students according to need. Children with complex needs who require assistance in order to safely attend school are the top priority.
Through the School Health Support Services program, a LHIN Care Coordinator may arrange in-school access to a range of services.
For students in public schools, private schools or students who are home schooled, the LHIN may provide:
* Nursing services * Dietetic services * Information and referral services * Coordination of services
For students in private schools or students who are home schooled, the LHIN may also provide:
* Occupational therapy * Physiotherapy * Speech-language pathology * Personal support

Application: Schools are required to submit a referral for in-school services
Eligibility: Students must be registered to attend school (public or private) to receive school health support services. Policy/Program Memorandum 131 provides guidance for parents who choose to home school children. To access school health support services, home schooled children are required to provide a letter from the local school board.
